2024 Horse Show Rules

1. All memberships and entries must be PAID before entering the ring. Entries may be made online using AssistExpo, www.assistexpo.ca/cdas

2. You are riding at your own risk. Therefore, the fair is not responsible for any injuries.

3. All riders aged 18 and under MUST wear a helmet while on horse backanywhere on the grounds.

4. Attire: western boots, shirt and jeans must be worn. Or respective English attire.

5. The “Tack Optional” designation means that competitors in those classes may participate in Western or English tack and attire.

6. Lead-Line classes are for riders 8 years and under. One rider and one handler per horse.

7. Lead-Line riders can only show in lead-line classes. Lead-Line riders can move up at any time but may not move back down.

8. Horses may be shown in legal hackamores or leather sidepulls. Any senior horse (6 and older) or non-novice horse must be shown one handed.

9. There will be NO RUNNING in or out of the sides of the shoot. You need to have complete care and control of your horse. Failure to do so will result in immediate disqualification for the rest of the day with no refund.

10. There will be no excessive whipping or spurring of your horse. Failure to follow this rule will be grounds for disqualification.

11. If your name is called to enter the ring and you are not ready you will havethree calls. If not at the ring in that amount of time and ready to compete, you will miss your run and not be given a re-run.

12. Each horse and rider combination must have a separate entry form. NO EXCEPTIONS.

13. Exhibitors showing stallions must be over the age of 18.

14. A competitor will be given a “no time” for any of the following reasons:

a.Off Pattern

b.Running out of order and/or riding a horse other than the horse in the drawn position (unless otherwise discussed/approved before hand with the executive team)

c. If the rider falls off after crossing the starting timer this results in a “no time”.

15. Re-runs will be given in any of the following circumstances:

a. a re-run shall be granted if the timer fails to work properly or if the barrels are not placed properly on their marker.

b. if a rider comes off a horse before the timer in a situation that is uncontrollable such as tack malfunction.
